There are a variety of free food samples given out at the event, mostly in The Safeway Sampling Pavilion - open 12 to 6 both event days, please be prepared to wait in line to get in! – with additional free samples given out throughout the site, 9th to 14th Streets, on Pennsylvania Ave. See celebrity chefs doing cooking demonstrations on The Safeway Demonstration Stage and witness the National Pork Barbecue Championship Contest with top competition barbecue teams from around the country vying for over $25,000 in cash and prizes and coveted bragging rights. Stop off at one of many great vendors from all over to purchase your favorite kinds of barbecue and sauces from Memphis ribs and Carolina chicken to Texas brisket and every kind of mouth-watering barbecue you could imagine. To accompany the delicious barbecue, enjoy over 30 bands on 3 stages with continuous music, celebrity chefs, and activities all weekend long.
